There comes a time as an entrepreneur where you realize help is needed. Quite frankly, I have always believed in the value of teamwork so the idea that I would have a team of people working with me and for me was not that foreign. I embrace collaboration and I am the first to admit when “I don’t know it!” For about two years, it was just my sister and me.
My sister Marisol, my biggest ally, my right hand, the one that I look up to even when she is looking up at me (I am the oldest after all, ha!). We would talk almost every day, developed a loose plan of action for my social media and she would execute and I would write. She would edit and I would write some more. She would post and I would continue writing, go to speaking engagements, conferences, book festivals, book signing events, taking pictures and writing some more. Until one day, because she is so smart she said, “we need help! We need a younger team that understands the digital world better than we do”.
Enter Blue Lotus Collective and their owners Rachel Matos and Lidia Sagastume, and then my team was complete. Of the many highs that happened in my life last year, working with my team was at the top of the list. From setting up a weekly social media calendar to managing my website and giving me advice and suggestions to grow my brand, it has been a wonderful experience and I am so grateful to count on their daily support. To be reminded that my posts need to reflect culture and impart my knowledge about languages and about raising multicultural children. To find ways to make my brand stronger and to be a resource and offer tools to parents and teachers. To deliver my messages in Spanish because that content is much needed. To suggest I incorporate lifestyle posts that demonstrate my bicultural life. These ladies are the ones that give me the wings to fly, to trust, to BELIEVE.
Oprah Winfrey once said, “Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.” My team and I? In this new year, we get to continue our quest to grow and making it right.
