The queen of glitter aka Kathy Cano Murillo stopped by last week to chat about growing up Mexican American in a community where Spanish was not necessarily spoken, how her husband has contributed to her love of culture, the beginnings of her Crafty Chica by Kathy Cano-Murillo empire and motherhood.

Motherhood according to Kathy:⠀
1. Being a mom is a constant learning experience. Embrace the fact that kids teach the parent as much as parents teach the kids.
2. Embrace the different perspectives.
3. It’s OK to be vulnerable.
4. Be open, be ready.
5. Never force your will on the child.
6. Don’t forbid things, it has the power of attraction!
7. Honor yourself.
8. Practice self-care.
9. Pay attention to what you love.⠀
10. Believe in yourself. Believe in your children.
Tips for working moms
1. Have direction. Develop a 5-year plan. Include a shortlist of what you love.
2. Choose a time. Incorporate working on your dream daily. For ex: pick one day a week for your work.
3. Evaluate your plan often. How is it going and where do you want to go from there.
4. Find ways to make things happen-be creative, trust.
